My Design Process
This stage is to prepare and gather information before the project begins.
Communicate with key stakeholders
Examine course content and data before initiating kick-off meeting
Produce insightful questions to be reviewed in first meeting.
All stakeholders including subject matter experts begin with a kickoff meeting to collaborate on all analytics.
Identify performance outcomes
Identify project requirements and scope
Clarify project roles
Construct timelines and deliverable deadlines
Identify audience, seat time and modality
Create needs analysis: performance gaps, trends ect..
Compiling information from subject matter experts and analysis feedback the designing begins.
Define learning objectives
Map learning objectives to business goal
Create a design document (purpose, audience, seat time, deliverables, learning objectives, training outline and assessment plan)
Design document gets reviewed and feedback is implemented
Create a storyboard (branding, images, layout, slide text, slide narration, slide interactions)
Storyboard gets reviewed and feedback implemented
Developing interactive learning in different software using visual and adult learning principles. Alpha, Beta and Gold revisions are completed.
Articulate Storyline: scenario-based learning, avatars, voiceover, states, layers, triggers, variables, branching scenarios, accordions, knowledge checks and quizzes
Articulate Rise: carousels, flip cards, markers and buttons
PowerPoint: instructor-led training, discussions, breakout rooms, group exercises, virtual or in-person format
Canva: job aids, posters, infographics, gifs and other microlearning
Final e-Learning course is implemented and tracked through a learning management system (LMS).
Publish the course to create a zip file and SCORM package
Deliver zip file to LMS administrator
Kirpatrick Model is used to track learning and closing gaps.
Kirpatrick's Level 2: Final graded quiz and knowledge checks
Built into the training, immediate feedback, coupled with Level 3 evaluations
Kirpatrick's Level 3: Observe and assess behavior 1-2 months after training
Use observations, interviews, surveys and learner performance
Kirpatrick's Level 4: Impact on the organization
Compiling data several months to years after the training. Hard to isolate the impact due to other factors in this time frame.
